Nelumbo
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
PLOT
The Nemsi galaxy is succumbing to a strange disease called Nelumbo, which causes its inhabitants to lose their memories. Travel the entire galaxy in search of lost memories, and find out the origins of Nelumbo.
DESCRIPTION
Nelumbo is a 2D exploration and platform video game where, through the environment and the NPCs, the player discovers the story of Nemsi. As players progress, they will acquire skills, which will allow them to discover and visit new planets and areas. We are inspired by games like Hollow Knight and Gris, both artistically and thematically.
GAMEPLAY
Nelumbo’s gameplay is built on two core foundations.
First, a platforming and puzzle-solving aspect where you’ll acquire new skills and powers that enable you to revisit previously explored areas and discover new ones as you progress.
Secondly, you’ll embark on a journey across Nemsi, searching for the lost memories of its inhabitants. Through a unique mechanic for reviving these memories, you’ll uncover the origins of a mysterious disease.
CHARACTERS
These are some of the inhabitants of Miseet, your home planet. They’ve been affected by Nelumbo, so they don’t always say things that make sense... and some may have even forgotten how to use a few of their own gadgets, but they’re good people!
After seeing you with this curious new helmet, which you find at the beginning of the game, they will feel enough confidence to ask you for help in finding their memories.
ADDITIONAL INFO
Nelumbo was born as a Final Degree Project made by four students from different careers and disciplines.
The game is currently in development, so what is posted here is a prototype of the first planet, which can be played with both keyboard and remote control (although it is preferable to play remote control). We hope you enjoy the game, and thank you for leaving feedback of any kind in the comments.
